Let’s dive into the details and show you how to bring this beauty to life!

What You’ll Need

Here’s what we used to create this bright and beautiful summer wreath:

  • Oval grapevine wreath base (the oval shape gives a fresh twist on a classic!)
  • Bright yellow sunflowers (these are the stars of the show!)
  • Orange roses (for that bold contrast and warm summer glow)
  • Button fern greenery (adds texture and fullness)
  • Yellow and white daisy filler flowers (a sweet, soft accent to tie it all together)
  • Two 1/2-inch wired ribbons in coordinating summer colors or patterns (for the perfect finishing bow!)
  • Hot glue gun
  • Wire cutters
  • Floral wire (optional, for extra security)

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prep Your Wreath Base

Start with your oval grapevine wreath. We love using oval shapes because they feel just a little different — and they give your wreath a nice vertical presence on your door. Give it a quick shake to remove loose pieces, and trim any flyaway vines if needed.

2. Layer in the Greenery

We always start by adding our greenery base — in this case, the button fern. This sets the shape of your wreath and gives it a nice foundation for all those bright blooms to pop against. Work in small bundles, and secure them with hot glue or floral wire, fanning them out from the middle toward the top and bottom.

Don’t worry about making it perfect — a little wildness makes it feel more natural!

3. Add the Sunflowers

Now it’s time for the sunshine! Insert your yellow sunflowers across the center and slightly off to one side to give your design a little movement and flow. You can cluster them together for a bold impact or spread them out more evenly, depending on the look you want.

We used sunflowers with big, happy faces — they practically smile at you!

4. Mix in the Orange Roses

Tuck in your orange roses next. These add richness and contrast and bring that warm summer glow. We like placing them in between and just below the sunflowers to create depth and visual balance.

5. Add Your Filler Flowers

To finish off the floral part of the design, sprinkle in your yellow and white daisy filler flowers. These smaller blooms fill in the gaps and soften the overall look. They also help blend the bright colors together for a more cohesive design.

Step back and look at your wreath from a few feet away — you might find a little spot that needs just one more bloom or a bit more greenery.

6. Tie It All Together with a Bow

Every wreath needs a little extra charm, and what better way than with a sweet bow made from two 1/2-inch wired ribbons? Choose colors or patterns that complement your florals — we used one solid and one fun print for contrast.

Create a simple hand-tied bow or use a bow maker if you prefer. Fluff those loops and tails, then attach it to your wreath with floral wire or hot glue — we placed ours just below the flower cluster for a polished finish that doesn’t steal the spotlight from those sunflowers!
