Y’all…

I have read so many great books lately and there are so many more that I want to read!

It’s like my TBR (to be read) stack just keeps getting bigger and bigger. There are several great authors that are releasing new books this year, and I keep seeing all of these recommendations for books on Booktok and Instagram that I just have to read. My local book club keeps me busy with new books as well.

I have always loved to read, but over the years I had stopped reading for the joy of it. I got to the point where I mostly just read non-fiction, personal development, and business books for educational purposes. I started back reading for FUN a couple of years ago. I now read daily simply because I enjoy it. (Here is a picture of me with my book club ladies. We have so much fun!)

My goal this year is to read 100 new books (this doesn’t include all the books I read to my kids – we spend a lot of time at the library and they love to read nearly as much as I do.) So far, I am almost halfway to my goal. Yay! Here are some of my most recent favorites. Feel free to add these to your TBR stack.

From The Embers by Ali Martinez

This book was recommended to me by a friend from my local book club, and boy, did this one pack quite the punch! This is the first book I have read from author, Ali Martinez, but it definitely won’t be the last. I love her writing style and I couldn’t put this book down. The story was both beautiful and heartbreaking, and one that I will still be thinking of for quite a while.

Book Lovers by Emily Henry

I absolutely adored this book! This was the first book I read by Emily Henry and I was hooked from the beginning. I have read several of Henry’s books since, but this is my favorite. This story about two literary publishers and their search for love and happiness is light hearted and enjoyable. I loved every minute of it.

The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth

The Soulmate was another recommendation from a local book club friend and I am so glad I read this book. I have enjoyed every Sally Hepworth book that I have read and this one is no exception. This is a novel about marriage, secrets, and deception. I was intrigued up until the very end. This is a must-read for sure.

The Night Shift by Alex Finlay

Two tragic attacks 15 years apart. A lone survivor from each. Is there a connection? This crime thriller by Alex Finlay is intense and addictive. This book has multiple points of view. It is fast-paced and has a great storyline. I couldn’t put it down.

The Housemaid by Frieda McFadden

Frieda McFadden has quickly become one of my favorite authors, and this is the book that started it all for me. The Housemaid was the first book I read by McFadden. It is a riveting psychological thriller with a satisfying twist. I loved everything about this book and I have devoured many of her books since reading this one.

The Push by Ashley Audrain

The Push by Ashley Audrain is poignant and full of emotion. This book explores the effects of generation trauma, and touches on some difficult subjects. It is one of those books that stays with you long after you finish reading it. If you enjoy psychological thrillers you should give this one a read.

Every Summer After by Carly Fortune

This debut novel by Carly Fortune is one of the best summer romance novels that I have read in a while. This is a second chance love story, filled with emotion and beauty. I was hooked all the way through. I can’t wait to read Fortune’s newest novel, as if it is anything like Every Summer After, it is sure to be a gem.

All Good People Here by Ashley Flowers

I am a huge fan of the podcast, Crime Junkie, so when I heard that Ashley Flowers, one of the hosts of Crime Junkie had written a debut novel, I was intrigued. This one had me guessing until the very end. I really enjoyed this book, and if you are a fan of crime mysteries, this is a good one to add to your list.

Local Woman Missing by Mary Cubic

Local Woman Missing is an intense thriller packed with suspense and nail-biting twists. This one left me guessing until the very end. If you are a fan of psychological thrillers, this is a good one to add to your list. I am looking forward to reading more books by Mary Cubic.

The Bodyguard by Katherine Center

This sweet and charming rom-com is lighthearted and fun. Hannah Brooks (aka The Bodyguard) is hired to protect movie star, heartthrob, Jack Stapleton. Expect plenty of romance, sarcasm and humor in this book. It is truly delightful!

There you go! These are some of the most recent and most enjoyable books the I have read. Reading has become one of my favorite hobbies. Nine times out of ten I would much rather read than watch television. Do you prefer to cozy up with a good book or binge Netflix?
