Fall is officially here, and you know what that means…t’s pumpkin season! And no, I’m not just talking about pumpkin pie and pumpkin spice lattes (although, yes please to both). I’m talking about pumpkin arrangements. Those cozy, colorful, and oh-so-charming floral creations that instantly make your home feel festive for autumn.
Today, we’re going to show you how to make a beautiful pumpkin table arrangement using a pumpkin container and florals from Michaels and Hobby Lobby. This project is simple enough for beginners, but the results look like something straight out of a high-end boutique.
Whether you place it on a dining table, side table, entryway, or even on your kitchen island, it’s going to add warmth, color, and that extra bit of “wow” to your fall décor.
And the best part? You can watch us make this arrangement step-by-step in our YouTube video right here: Watch the Pumpkin Arrangement Tutorial.
So, grab your pumpkin, your florals, and let’s dive in!
What You’ll Need
You don’t need anything fancy to pull this off, just a few supplies and a dash of creativity. Here’s what we used for ours, all from Michaels and Hobby Lobby:
- A pumpkin container (a realistic faux pumpkin or ceramic pumpkin works great)
- Floral foam (so your stems stay in place)
- Fall floral bushes or picks in warm colors like oranges, burgundy, mustard, and deep greens
- Faux greenery to add texture and fill
- Optional accents such as pinecones, berries, feathers, or small pumpkins
- Wire cutters for trimming stems
Tip: If you’re using a hollow pumpkin, you can place the floral foam right inside. For solid pumpkins or ceramic containers, just set the foam on top and secure it with hot glue.
Step 1: Prep Your Pumpkin
First things first, let’s prep that pumpkin!
If you’re using a faux craft pumpkin from Michaels or Hobby Lobby, you may need to cut off the top. Use a craft knife to carefully remove the lid and scoop out the inside if it’s not already hollow. If you’re using a pumpkin-shaped container, you’re good to go!
Add a block of floral foam inside your pumpkin, trimming it so it fits snugly. This will be the base that holds all your stems in place.
Step 2: Start With Your Greenery
Greenery is like the foundation of your arrangement. It gives your florals a natural, balanced look.
Place your greenery stems into the foam, spreading them out around the edges first. Let some greenery drape over the sides for a soft, flowing effect. Don’t worry if it looks a little wild right now, we’ll be layering florals on top.
Step 3: Add Your Largest Florals
Now for the fun part…the flowers!
Start with your largest blooms, like faux roses, dahlias, or peonies in fall colors. Insert them at different heights, but keep them fairly centered in the arrangement. This gives your pumpkin that lush, full look without looking too flat.
Think of it like building a bouquet, your big, show-stopper blooms should be the stars of the show!
Step 4: Layer In Smaller Florals
Once your large blooms are in place, it’s time to tuck in your medium and small flowers.
We used rich burgundy mums, orange ranunculus, and a few golden-yellow filler flowers. Tuck them in between the larger blooms and around the edges to add dimension and balance.
This step is where your pumpkin starts transforming from “cute” to “WOW!”
Step 5: Add Texture With Accents
To make your pumpkin arrangement look professional, add in a few textural elements.
We love using pinecones, faux berries, dried pods, or even a feather or two. These little touches bring so much interest to the arrangement and make it look more natural.
Place them throughout the arrangement, especially near the edges, so they peek out and draw the eye around the design.
Step 6: Step Back and Fluff
Here’s a little secret: the difference between an arrangement that looks “homemade” and one that looks “designer” often comes down to fluffing and tweaking.
Step back, look at your arrangement from different angles, and fill in any bare spots with greenery or small flowers. Bend and shape the wired stems until everything feels balanced and flowing.
Where to Use Your Pumpkin Arrangement
Now that you’ve created your pumpkin masterpiece, let’s talk about where to display it!
On a dining table as a centerpiece surrounded by candles for a warm, inviting glow.
On a side table to brighten up a cozy corner in your living room.
In the entryway to greet guests with a festive fall welcome.
On your kitchen island as a cheerful seasonal accent.
No matter where you place it, this arrangement is guaranteed to bring smiles and compliments!

One of the things we love most about pumpkin arrangements is how versatile they are. You can go bright and bold, soft and neutral, or even glam with metallic accents—it’s all up to you!
And because the florals are faux, this arrangement will last all season long, and you can reuse your pumpkin container year after year.
Plus, this is a stress-free project—you don’t have to be a floral designer to make something gorgeous. With just a few stems and a pumpkin, you’ve got instant fall charm.
