Loaded Green Bean Casserole is a staple at all of our family get togethers. We have been making this family recipe for years. It puts a spin on your traditional green bean casserole, and is always the most requested dish at our gatherings.

Instead of topping this Green Bean Casserole with traditional fried onions, we use Better Cheddars crackers and it adds the perfect finishing touch to this dish. Some links in this post may lead to websites where we are an affiliate. Click [HERE] for our disclosure statement.

The BEST Loaded Green Bean Casserole Recipe

Ingredients for Loaded Green Bean Casserole:

4 (14.5 ounce) cans French style green beans
1 (11 ounce) can white shoepeg whole kernel corn
8 ounces diced ham
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup sour cream
1 (10.5 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
2 cups crushed cheese crackers (we use Better Cheddars. We have tried other kinds but Better Cheddars are the best if you can find them.)
1 stick unsalted butter (1/2 cup)

Directions:

To start, you will need to preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Next, drain green beans and corn VERY well. You want to make sure to remove as much water as possible.

Add green beans, corn and ham to large mixing bowl (I use a KitchenAid Mixer but you can mix by hand) and mix all together.

Then, add cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, cheese, salt and pepper and continue to mix well.

Spread mixture into a glass casserole dish.

Cook in oven at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until casserole is bubbly all the way through.

While casserole is cooking, crush cheddar crackers, you need two cups of crushed crackers, and melt your butter. I melt in a small bowl in the microwave.

After your casserole is finished, take out of oven and spread crushed crackers over top.

Pour melted butter evenly over crackers and put casserole back in the oven to broil for a few minutes until crackers are golden brown. (I broil at 400 degrees for 2-3 minutes. Be sure to watch carefully so not to burn crackers.)

This loaded Green Bean Casserole is the perfect side, but I will admit, sometimes I eat it as a meal. It is so savory and delicious.
