If you are looking for a fun and inexpensive way to spruce up your wall decor this Christmas season, then you will love this DIY Gift Wrapped Picture Decoration.
This is so easy to make. It’s easy, festive and it’s a fabulous way to add holiday cheer to your home. You can use a picture (the canvas type of picture works best) that you already have hanging up in your home and transform it into a beautiful Christmas accent. *Some links in this post may lead to websites where we are an affiliate. Supplies Needed to Make this DIY Gift Wrapped Picture
- Canvas Picture
- Wrapping Paper
- Scissors
- Tape
- Wired Christmas Ribbon
- Floral Wire
Instructions
STEP ONE: Choose the wall canvas that you want to use and measure it so that you know the size wrapping paper to use. The canvas that we wanted to use was 30 inches x 40 inches, so we used a roll of 40″x 250″ wrapping paper. (You want to make sure that your roll of wrapping paper is slightly wider than the canvas.)
The roll of wrapping paper that we used was way more than we needed. In fact, we could have made several gift wrapped pictures with one roll. I’m actually considering creating a gallery wall and wrapping several of them in different sizes.
STEP TWO: Next, roll out a large section of wrapping paper, and lie your canvas face down on the paper. You want for your wrapping paper to be able to fold over to the back of the canvas, and extend about an inch larger than the canvas, all the way around.
STEP THREE: Bend down the tops and sides of the wrapping paper (just like you would if you were wrapping an actual gift), and crease the corners. First, tape the top and bottom directly to the canvas, and then tape down the sides.
STEP FOUR: Next, you want to make a cross with the ribbon. To do that, you will need two long pieces of ribbon. You want to measure the length of the picture and include enough ribbon to be taped to the back of the picture on each end. Tape securely. Then, measure the width of the picture (from side to side) and add enough ribbon to reach to the back and then tape the ribbon on securely.
STEP FIVE: Tie a bow and add it to the center of the picture, where the two pieces of ribbon cross. If you don’t know how to tie a large bow, click here for a step by step tutorial
STEP SIX: Hang your DIY Gift Wrapped Picture Decoration and ENJOY! Command Hooks work great for hanging this type of wall decor.
