This DIY Ice Cream Wreath is the PERFECT summer craft!

What is more refreshing on a hot summer day than a delicious cone of ice cream? (Not much in my opinion!) This delightful ice cream cone wreath is so simple to make and is the perfect way to welcome guests on a hot summer day!

What You Need to Make This Ice Cream Door Hanger:

  • Cone Shaped Wall Container
  • Burlap Ribbon
  • 4 large hydrangea stems (color of choice – we used pink)
  • 4-5 peony stems (color of choice – we used yellow)
  • 4 peony stems (another color – we used white)
  • 1 red flower of choice (the cherry!)
  • Floral foam
  • Floral pins
  • Wire Cutters
  • Glue Gun
  • Glue Sticks

STEP ONE: Wrap your cone shaped container in burlap. I used one continuous piece of wired 2.5 inch natural burlap. Start at the top back of the container and secure with a floral pin or dot of hot glue, then wrap around the entire cone and secure at the bottom with another bit of hot glue or a floral pin. This will give you the look of an ice cream cone.

STEP TWO: Put a square piece of floral foam inside the cone shaped container. Make sure that it is pressed down in there securely. Cut off any excess foam that is sticking out of the top.

STEP THREE: Add your flowers in rows – we used a row of yellow peonies first, then pink hydrangeas, white peonies, and lastly we used one red flower at the top to resemble a cherry.

You will start with your stems short – approx 3 inches long for your first row of flowers, and your next row of flowers you will leave the stems about 5 inches long, the third row about 8 inches, and your cherry flower you will leave the stem the longest at about 10 inches. If your red “cherry” flower stem is not long enough you can attach to a floral pick and wrap with floral tape to add extra height.

Add hot glue to the bottom 1/2 inch of each stem and insert into the floral foam. You will repeat this process for each of the flowers.
